* Temporary Non-immigrant Visas: Temporary non-immigrant visa allow individuals to enter the U.S. for a limited period of time and for a specific purpose.

* Family-based Immigrant Visas: Family-based immigration allows individuals to enter the U.S. with the intent to live permanently in the U.S. through sponsorship by a family member. The sponsor is related to you through blood or marriage and must be either a U.S. citizen or a legal permanent resident (LPR) in the U.S. LPRs are more limited in who they may sponsor for a family-based green card.

* Asylum Applications: Individuals who believe they face persecution for their beliefs if they return to their country of nationality may apply for asylum.

* Naturalization and Citizenship: Once individuals have had a green card for a specified number of years, they are eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship. Also eligible for automatic citizenship are children adopted by U.S. citizens, children born abroad to U.S. citizens and children whose parents become U.S. citizens prior to the child's 18th birthday.

* Removal Proceedings: Individuals who have violated immigration laws may be placed in removal proceedings. In some circumstances, the individual will have a right to a hearing in Immigration Court.

* Appellate Proceedings: Sometimes immigration applications are denied. Some denials can be appealed.

* Miscellaneous Immigration Issues: There is a multitude of immigration issues that do not fit neatly into one of the above categories. If your particular issue is not found in the above links, you may find it under this section.
