MARK A. PETERSON is a 1972 honors graduate of the University of Illinois College of Journalism and a 1975 graduate of Marquette University Law School. He is certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and has received training as a neutral mediator at the Pepperdine University School of Law's Straus Institute.
Over the years, Mark has handled complex state and federal court lawsuits, including product liability actions (related to construction equipment and consumer products; wrongful death and personal injury actions arising from automobile accidents, exposure to poisonous gas, toxic chemicals and asbestos, and aircraft crashes) and business cases (construction defect and engineering malpractice claims, fiduciary litigation, breach of contract actions, professional practice break-ups, and insurance coverage-related claims).
In handling cases on appeal, Mark has briefed and argued cases in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Wisconsin Supreme Court, and the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
Because of his wide-ranging experience as a trial attorney, Mark's work as a neutral mediator and arbitrator covers many substantive areas. His procedural training and experience in alternative dispute resolution has helped in resolving issues for people in conflict. Mark is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, serves on the State Bar's panel of construction arbitrators and is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution.
Bar admissions include the States of Wisconsin and Colorado, the U.S. District Courts of Wisconsin, Colorado and Minnesota, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Tenth Circuits, the U.S. Claims Court, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mark has frequently taught continuing education courses for lawyers on issues related to trial work and ethics and has authored articles on tort law and damages.
