David Cisar chairs the Banking and Commercial Transactions Section of von Briesen & Roper, s.c. David’s practice focuses on financial institutions and other businesses in connection with financing transactions, credit issues, real estate, the Uniform Commercial Code, and related litigation. In 2007, David was Board Certified in Creditors’ Rights Law by the American Board of Certification. He is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Banking Law and Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law and as a “Super Lawyer” in the Bankruptcy & Creditor/Debtor Rights field by Law & Politics and Milwaukee Magazine.

David co-chairs the UCC Committee of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s Business Section. He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin committee which reviewed UCC Revised Article 9 (2000) and was also a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin committee which reviewed the 1994 revision of UCC Article 8 (relating primarily to security interests in investment securities). He testified before state legislators with regard to passage of Revised Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code.

He is a frequent speaker to business, banking and legal audiences, on such topics as UCC law, banking, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights. He has made presentations for the Wisconsin Bankers Association, the Corporate Practice Institute, various Bar Association groups, and the American Bankruptcy Institute.

David is a member of the Milwaukee (chairperson, Bankruptcy Section 1990-92; program chair 1989-90) and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of Wisconsin (Director, Business Law Section 2002-2008) and American Bankruptcy Institute (contributing editor, ABI Journal).
